Wait a minute there that serial number comes back as, ENG:Serial number 0L620229 model number 4M31037M1 MERCRUISER MEFI 3 ALPHA 3" RISERS 5.0L ALPHA EFI.
Manufacture Date 07/28/1999

Your drive is, Serial number: 0L708724 model number is 5121300LS MERCRUISER ALPHA 1.62:1.

Because your drive is an alpha, And the impeller is in between the upper and lower unit of the sterndrive, It should not be mounted to the engine.
You will need to order either number (27) 47-43026T2-- IMPELLER And that should come with the gaskets needed to do a basic job, Or for a complete job done right with housing you will want part number 817275Q05 WATER PUMP REBUILD KIT SS# "817275A4" $153.00 $133.88 From this link.http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...c=GEAR+HOUSING(DRIVESHAFT)(STANDARD+ROTATION)

Also you may need service manual part number 90-8181773 STERNDRIVES - ALPHA ONE GEN 2 SERVICE MANUAL #14 from MerCruiser to help you do this job.

Also you will need almost 3 QT's of "High performance gear oil" for your drive, And a pump to pump the oil in from the bottom up.

The part number 46-807151a7 you found is for a bravo style set up, And if you copy and paste your number in this link and click on the photo to the right you will see that impeller housing would need to be driven by a engine pulley.http://www.mercruiserparts.com/partsByNumber.asp

Your good with the thermostat number, But I recommend you also get numbers 3,4,5,6, In this link. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...r=4856&bnbr=150&bdesc=Standard+Cooling+System

Here's a tip, Gasket number (4) goes on dry no "sealant" or you will get a bad reading on your temp gauge, Because of the little rivets in the gasket are for grounding the temp sending units.

If you have any Questions about what gasket comes in a kit call Bam Marine they will set you straight, Here is there information Phone 954 545 8681

The links I posted are from Bam Marine in FL.

I hope this information helps you out a little bit.

3.) Boat Tech..........best, most comprehensive reply we've seen in a while. Thanks a ton for posting. The links alone will give me hours of learning. Thanks again.
