The Walker website says these units need to be serviced/changed every 500 hours (it also says two years if less than 150 hours per year) so I am overdue. Has anyone found a reasonably priced source for this kit? Are there other options such as just buy the internal elements and clean outer filter instead of the whole kit? The best price I found was about $760 for the kit that services both two engines.

CCE Service Cummins QSB & QSC (Internal Elements)

It is kit number 1000267 for a QSC.

Thanks in advance for the help!

What makes those filters so darn expensive?

Chit, I thought it was bad that I had to spend $1.99/can up from $1.49/can x 2 cans each year to purchase carburetor cleaner to clean the flame arrestors once per year on the marine gas engines.

Guess I’ll stop complaining now.

Do some checking on boatdiesel.com - lots of good info like you're looking for there...

I find it DEFINITELY worth the $25 so you can search the archives. You'll probably save it on this maintenance item.

If you can't find an answer, let me know and I'll do some more searching. Please post what you find here so it will be archived...

Wow... that stuff is pricey. I guess that design combines a CCV filter with the air filter...

The design on the QSM11 is a little different in that the CCV filter (a Racor product) is separate and mounted on the engine and then plumbed over to the airsep. I was b!tching two years ago because those CCV filter replacements were $100 each... I'll shutup now. Just as an FYI, the Racor filters are supposed to be replaced every 700 hours or so but there is also an indicator that pops up when they enter bypass. Not sure if there is something similar on yours. The air filters can be cleaned with their blue cleaning kit and it's around $35.. but I've never been able to get the blue oil to cover two filters so I always buy two of those.... I had really dirty filters this year for some reason... probably my exhaust leak.

New to the SRC how do you like the Hurley davit??
Works great. 10.5' hard bottom Zodiac and 15 Merc 2 stroke. Admiral and I load it easily. I like the fact that I can remove the davit and only have small brackets left on the swim platform.

Just reading this for education only (no diesel) but have to say I like the oval window cutouts in your side aft curtains. Also the tan hull with matching top looks great. Tan accents on a SR still look good. The blue seems to be a fad. The maintenance of a blue hull would be a short lived fad also!
Back to the topic at hand.
