So, I bought new elements (from Fisheries Supply) for my two main engines. Does any one know if the new elements need any treatment prior to install? Or do they need any of the K&N treatment? Appreciate any feed back.

Nothing needed. They are pre-oiled at the factory (that is why they are red) and ready to go.

I have cleaned mine five times during my boats life. For the cost of the elements, it was a simple decision to replace them. Well over 1000 hours and 13 seasons. I am also in the process of replacing every hose on my engines, some say the silicone hoses will last much longer, but it just seems like cheap insurance and good maintenance to me.

Same here. Had about the same hours and years when I changed mine. Mine actually talked to me by restricting air intake producing black exhaust smoke, out in the middle of the ocean. When I talked to the Walker guy he said after four cleanings any further cleanings don't do anything.

Did you replace with the original 8" size or go to the 9" size, which the Walker guy said is now his recommendation to ensure enough air flow when getting dirty? I stuck with the 8".

I went with the stock 8". I am hoping that by the end of the day tomorrow, I will have replaced all of the hoses, filters, belts, etc. on my engines and should be good to go for a while.

If you replace the short fat coolant hose at the bottom of the block on the starboard engine, let us know how you got to that one. Its the one attached to the pipe running to the bottom of the heat exchanger.
