Well I just had my wakeup call. First thing Monday morning while drinking my coffee at the desk I had a really bad feeling in my chest. It lasted about ten minutes and went away, a little later I went downstairs to the men’s room and boom it happened again, this time I had to stop and lay down. Well a co-worker saw this and asked me if I needed an ambulance and me not one for going to doctors often, said yea I think I do. Well ten minutes later I’m on the way to the hospital with blood pressure over 190 over 110. Long story short, it was the blood pressure causing the pain and after spending the night in the hospital and having a stress test today there was no heart attack or heart damage, I was lucky. But lifestyle changes are now in order to get the blood pressure and cholesterol in check.

Glad to hear it wasn't what you probably thought. I had a similar experience several years ago, and it sure is a wake-up call. Good luck getting everything back under control -

Scary I'm sure (while making a mental note - buy new BP monitor soon). Glad it wasn't too bad!

Take care of yourself....that happen to me a few years back and it WAS a heart attack
be kind to your body....

Wow scary - glad you are okay. Take care.

Bill, take care of yourself. It sucks getting old and having to make changes, but something we all have to do as we get silver! Glad you are okay.

P.S. Agree with newer bigger boat. Just did that too!

Jeff

Learned to listed the the body warning a long time ago. I just cranked seventy, for far no health problems.

Just can't put two sentences together that read right? Just picking on you

See what happens when you leave the boat. Glad your feeling better and no heart attack. Changing life styles may suck for awhile but being dead lasts forever. More down time needed here. Isn't there a Doc in the house that can write our friend a prescription for more time on the boat and less time at work?

I have a friend who is really good shape. Eats well. Not an ounce of fat on the body (*really* skinny). Cholesterol low. Was on the *cover* of a running magazine a few years back. Heart attack at 42. Now recovering.

Humans are frail.

Be careful.

Holy crap dude!! Have you checked your BP annually?? That's freakin HIGH!!! I have always been borderline hypertensive my whole life. It's heredity and type A personality combined at the root. When my brother suffered a non-fatal heart attack @ the age of 42 I decided it was time to see a cardiologist. One pill a day keeps it in the normal range. You never want to admit that you need the help but even when I trained 7 days a week it was still high. There are many good pharmaceuticals out there for this diagnosis. Take care of it and monitor it frequently!! Good luck & be well!

Shout out to Bill- Happy Birthday!!!

Bill, you have my sympathy. I’ve been through last June...BP 180-120! Thanks God nothing was wrong with my heart or bloodstream and no cholesterol...just a nervous breakdown... It will pass...

Thank you all. I kind of new my cholesterol was higher than it should be. After all my eating habits have not been the best, especially in the morning with the Egg McMuffin’s (cholesterol bombs). But just as I said in post 1, it was a wake up call, and I was lucky enough just to get pulled over and get a warning! Now is the time to heed it, and I know some of the changes are going to be harder than others, but the options are not that great either.

The #1 killer of all men is NOT heart attacks, high cholesterol, cancers, etc......

STRESS is the number one killer and all of the above are it's side effects. Stress will eat your body away from the inside as fast as cancer. Eat sensible and do everything in moderation but control your stress. It's better to be a few pounds too heavy without stress...take a walk, play with your kids, spend quality time with your wife.....stop and smell the roses.

Bill

You are offiicialy banned fromt reading posts in the holding tank until you bring in a doctors note.
