my tachometer was acting goofy so I followed the recommendation and moved the setting indicator on the back. To my surprise the the tach did not click into each setting on the back. I got the pointer about where it started but who knows if it exactly the right place. Is that normal?

Normal in my experience on my '96 330 Dancer.. very marginal detents, you just need to get the reading stable with her running..

Normal in my case. No detent
detected. Just put the pointer on the proper cylinder number. Worked for me.

Thanks for the responses. Up under the dash it is a little difficult to be controlled and accurate.

I think I have it set about right. I'm getting around 25mph just under 3000RPM.

My Tach was wacky as well. I tried the setting # of Cyls fix, but It didn't help. Today I was doing some unrelated maintence, and found a disconnected ground wire on the underside of the distributer cap. I reinstalled this ground, and My tach works great.
