VuQube in-motion satelite

I am wanting to put in-motion satelite TV on my boat, but fix it where I can remove it to take other places like tailgating at ballgames. Has anyone tried the Vu-Qube. It is recommended for RV's and boats and is supposed to be compact.

I am going to play devils advocate here.

Unless you are going to watch TV underway, do you need an in motion system? On the hook, I am fine in central VA with my powered flying saucer and a digital converter.

The reason I ask is the difference in MSRP between the stationary system and the in motion is $1600. That's a lot of fuel.

Im with dp on this.. you can pick up dishes with tripods for cheap on ebay. (heck.. some people even give the dishes away if they don't want them on their house anymore)

That's an interesting idea but if I was going to spend that, I would spend the extra and get a fixed mount gyro-based antenna for about $500 more. That unit would solve the problem of losing the signal at the dock or at anchor with a land-based unit though. I just think dragging cables out all the time would be a big PITA.

I think the land-based antennas stuck on a boat look redneck... plus they are not going to work well if there is any motion at the dock (trust me... there is). I see how people stick them on pilings but some marinas won't allow that (probably because it looks redneck).

We watch TV underway... The flying saucer doesn't pick up the channels I or the family like to watch generally.

Unless you have one for in-motion, everytime the boat moves you lose signal. I was thinking with the portable VuQube I might could use it for several purposes. I have satelite at the dock already. It is fixed on a pole. Just looking for something on the hook. You can't get the cable channels with the antenna and converter.
