Good Day All,

While my engines are off, the needle on one of my voltmeters is not resting on its pin but rather pointing right at the number 10 on the gauge face. Does anyone have a trick to reset the needle or should I just get a new gauge? I've already looked at the back of the gauge and don't see any way to manually turn the needle. Thanks.

If it works fine once the power is on, don't worry about it. They do that, sometimes.

The real issue I'm having is that when I'm underway it pegs to 16 volts. I'm confident that it is the gauge because I tested the output from the alternator, which was fine, and also switched the gauges between the port and starboard engines. The same gauge pegged to 16 volts on the other engine while the other gauge registered normal on the other engine.

It is not a huge issue but if I ever do have a situation where my alternator is putting out more than normal, i'm not going to know and that is something I'd like to remedy.

OK, well that's more informative. I do not know of any way to "reset" it. It's a very basic (dumb) gauge. Replace it.
