While cruising I had my starbboard voltmeter jump up to 16v and then jump around between 14v and 16v. I slowed to idle and it came down to 13-14v. I had been running the generator so I shut it down and cruised home the remaining 10 minutes but the starbboard side still varied between 13 and 15v while the port stayed at 13.1v as it always does.

After returning to my slip I found my enging hatch would not operate and my battery charger output amp meter was showing it pegged so I shut it down. (I do not operate the charger of course while engines are running.) The hatch breaker was not tripped so I'm thinking some damage was done somewhere in the system by the voltage spike.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good place to start looking for the culprit?

Thanks
