Ok the wife wants a Vitamix, been watching too much QVC over the winter I guess... So convince me they are worth it. What can I do with it besides make soup, smoothies, and peanut butter...If you have one what are you doing with it?

Does it really matter? Doesn't the admiral usually get what she wants.

I just got one. I have been using it every day for the last few weeks to make a protein fruit drink for breakfast. There are no chunks in the drinks after your done blending it unlike a regular blender. I would say get it. Besides you can use it to make margaritas on the boat.

LOL yeah she does.... She just got an iPad mini... If we were not leaving for Florida on Thursday she would have gotten it already. Taking the fam down to see a Phillies game, check out the Space Center, and what ever else we can fit in for a few days. I have to admit it does look pretty neat and I doubt she would allow it to go down to the boat. But margaritas sound like a great additional use for it. Along with breakfast drinks that sounds neat too. I like the healthy side of some of the drinks you can make and the smoothness of it is a selling point to me.

I have had one for years, make salsa, fruit drinks and such and the peanut butter you can make with it is great!

My daughter is on a health food diet and has one. She took it to the beach on vacation and woke everyone in the house up making smoothies. It makes killer humus and the grandkids about wore it out making milk shakes. Damned thing is a serious blender........I bet it would double as a wood chipper

Only you can decide if you will use such an expensive machine. That said...

It is the only machine fully recommended by Americas Test Kitchen and they are totally independent, not advertiser supported. This item is a rarity in that it is a well built machine, made in US in Cleveland, offers a 7 year warranty, and is truly unmatched by any other blender. It also replaces any juicers if you need that as well.

It is not just a blender because it is so powerful. You mentioned soup, take raw broccoli, add milk or cream, a little onion, and some cheddar cheese and blend. In 6-8 minutes you have fresh STEAMING HOT soup, cooked by the power of the unit. I know of no other blender that will do that. Want a truly awesome smoothie, put in 5 leaves of kale, an orange peeled (you don't have too peel it but the peel is bitter), a whole kiwi (unpeeled), a 2 inch slab of fresh pineapple core and rind still on quartered, and some frozen berries of your liking. Wow, you would never know the skins and seeds were in there giving you all that fiber and real nutrients.

We often see demos at Costco, you might look there for one of the best prices too.

Can't tell you if you will find it worth it but is is one awesome tool.
