Visited my girl today

Kinda sucks to have to see her up on blocks and not be able to hit the waves like you'd REALLY like to do, doesn't it. Oh well, it won't be long until you can splash her and start having fun again.

If it makes you feel any better, we got out last week for a short cruise up the Columbia. When we left the slip it was about 60 degrees, light winds and partly cloudy.

Wake shot while idling along at around 1000 rpm's.

Before too long the skies turned dark and the wind started to kick up a bit. The horizon was really nasty looking so we turned around, got on plane and headed for the slip. Not too bad to be able to run 22.8kts at 1750 rpm's.

As it turned out, the major part of the storm went by to the south of us and all we got was a bit of wind and some rain.

Wetpaint, hang in there and before you know it you'll be putting your baby back in the water. :smt038

YOU did not make me feel better!!!!!

Just think, when you retire to the Carribean you won't have to deal with the snow and freezing temps!

Hi John,

I see you're experimenting with a new polishing combination. A few thoughts I've had after recently waxing my top half...

I just used the 3M Cleaner/Wax, and finished up with a second coat of 3M Marine Wax (in the black bottle - smells like tropical fruit). The compounding with the 3M Superbuff and Cleaner/Wax worked great. However, the egg crate style foam hook & loop pad that I used to remove the wax didn't work well at all. I think I need a different pad to remove the wax, and polish. It was easier to remove it by hand, so of course, I didn't get the best shine. Any thoughts on what to use for a pad on an industrial polisher (Dewalt)? Also thinking about switching to a better system, maybe a polish...

Also, there was a guy on the dock that is in the business of waxing boats and other maintenance. He brought over a two part system that he demonstrated for me on a patch next to what I had already done. The first was a pretty runny white creamy liquid with no smell. The second was purple, and smelled like grapes. He woundn't tell me what it was, but it did a much better job at polishing out the swirl marks, than what I was using. He claimed it was developed for the aerospace industry, although I doubt it. I guess he uses it on a lot of boats in San Diego. He didn't do any compounding - just used a foam pad to apply and polish. In the end, the shine was much better than what I produced, although I have no idea how it will hold up. Any ideas on what this system might be? The guys is guarding the secret with his life...

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

I am trying this combo because of what people have recommended on this site....I will use a buffer when doing the boat, but for the sample, just used a cotton cloth.....It looked good, but nothing different from what I have done in the past.......I will try and see what happens through a whole season.......

I visit the old girl every week.Mine is outside wrapped up so really can't do much work.there is a door in the wrap though so I can start on some early maintanance jobs or just go sit in the boat for a short while before saying I'm freezing, whats wrong with me and go home.

Alright Ken, Where are the pics of the new ride:huh:

I agree....where are the pics???

As for the Winter doldrums.........We took out Knot too Shabby for a run yesterday to get her fluids flowing and it just made me want Spring to come faster!!!:smt089

Put the Ford in 4x4 and went to check on Sweet T this weekend. Snug as a bug in a rug. All wrapped up and safe and secure... 1st week of April we start getting her ready for the water in 112 days.

I have poste quite a few pictures already but here are a few. She is in her slip now after a beautiful trip through the Delta yesterday. Some basic maintenance and cleaning over the next 2 weekends and she is really ready for new pictures! Nothing but great comments from all that have seen her, especially the blue stripe that nobody in our area have ever seen before.
