I'm sure all of use some sort of vinyl protection for our seats, etc. Although there are many such products that will do the job, I would like to pass on my application technique.
It seems most people spray on the protectant, and then wipe off the residue with a cloth. However, I also include an additional step, and that is to work in the protectant with my hand. This has the following advantages:
1. This makes it easy to find spots that did not receive enough of the protectant. Also, there are places that have a heavy coat, and the excess can be pushed to other locations as needed.
2. Working the protectant into the vinyl helps it to get into each pore and crease of the vinyl, giving it the ability to penetrate to the max extent possible.
3. Some spots are hard to get at with the spray, such as under a seat, behind a seat, or other hard to reach spots. Here I spray some protectant onto my hand, and then work it into those areas.
4. If I'm not ready to use the boat right away, I don't even wipe off the residue. I consider it just another layer of protection. I can always wipe it off at a later date if needed.
I really appreciate all the help and tips I get from the rest of you, and I hope this has been helpful.
