I was just made aware Oak Bluffs no longer has a fuel dock. They said I would have to get it in Vineyard Haven. Where is the easiest access fuel dock in Vineyard Haven? I'll be headed out in the morning.

The fuel Dock is on your port side as you enter the harbor. Vineyard Haven is your best choice for convenience and time but Falmouth Harbor is just across the sound, maybe 10-15 min out of your way from Oak Bluffs if you are coming from the south and is a lot cheaper than Vineyard Haven. Also, it is a nice harbor to take a run through as well. East Marine is at the far end of Falmouth Harbor on the Starboard side and has the best prices.

Thanks Jeremy, Maybe I'll swing through Falmouth on the way home as I'll still have about a half a tank when i get to Oak Bluffs. Coming from Greenwich Bay, RI

Menemsha on MV also has fuel at competitive prices if thats on route for you.

Yep, as Steve pointed out, Menemsha has the cheapest fuel on the Islands. Last year it was cheaper than what I paid in Mystic.

Gus, I came down the west side of Prudence then crossing over into the east passage and out of Newport. Once out of the bay a mile or so headed straight for Vineyard sound just south of B-Bay tower. Its best to come out of the bay a bit before turning east to avoid the fish traps. Its not too much of an issue if visibility is good but I don't risk it. Passed one close before. Just take a look on the chart the area is marked. We had 2-3 foot rollers the day we headed out and worst part of trip was at bay entrance. After that it was smooth sailing. the trip home was 3 - 4 with a little chop with 15 kt west wind. The trip back had a few bumps, worst was just as we came out of Vineyard Sound into RI Sound. It was a great trip. I just took a peak at the forecast for RI Sound for Friday. They are calling for 4-6 ft and builds into the night. I'd try for Thursday if thats an option. I hate to bring a damper but best to keep checking the forecast. I'm not sure you have the Marine Weather App by Bluefin but it is a useful app. If you have any other questions feel free.

SurferRI, been watching the forecast...not promising. Initially was planning on heading down the Sakonnet and through buzzards out by Woods Hole, but that looks nasty as well. Hoping that it shapes up, not calling for 5-7 footers on 25kt southerly winds-- not sure I want to tempt that.

Yeah I use Sakonnet as an escape route on the return. It is nice to duck in there if conditions are not ideal in the bay. Hope it turns out good for you. Keep us posted.
