i was boating in low water and i dug up some mud a week ago
i noticed that when i power up my starboard side starts to vibrate it seems to stop at around 3200rpm
anything above that, it starts again , I'm pulling the boat out this weekend, to see what damage i may have caused , any advise as to what the problem may be:huh: prop or shaft ???

Sounds impossible but I have had a good friend prove me wrong twice on this but .............he has picked up some sticky mud 2 different times and it attaches to the back side of the prop " in theory " and is quite adept and not wearing or slinging off with running but when he backed down real hard on the boat the reverse water pressure washed it right off. The first time I said bologna !! the second time I was on the boat. If it was mud bottom you got into, " maybe" , if not and it was a good thump like from driftwood than it's a prop or shaft, always both in my case ??. If the water temps allow go swimming with it and you can probably feel as much as you need to know, if no thump event, likely mud rope or wire off the bottom I picked up a pair of panty hose ??? 2 weeks ago on my jon boat, i don't even want to know why they were there.

Well if it makes you feel and less " Alone In The World " I managed to do a center hit a 30 foot long semi submerged tree this evening on my way in from a short 3-4 mile ride up river running on top at 2900 rpm, at a minimum I've wasted the port propeller and as I stated earlier " With my luck it will be a prop and shaft both." Vibration shows up at 1500 and is untolerable above 1600. I just bought this particular boat Sunday afternoon so we got maybe 8 miles together before tearing it up. Our river down here was seemingly pristene for the last 30 days, except for 1 tree.!!!!

Well I got all my other chores done today and my truck and trailer are waiting over at the ramp parking lot for the morning haul out. I'll know for sure shortly after it goes back in if itis prop only or shaft too, I dove down Friday eve. And scoped it out and I really think the shaft was turning true it's worth a try to just swap the props and go.

Let me knw you come out ??

I pulled the boat out saturday , we turned the prop on the starboard side and the shaft had little wobble in it , i must have powered up in low water and pounded the starboard side hard into ground i.e. mud,, boating in the New Jersey Shore is great, but were always running in anywhere from 2ft to 9ft of water ...and thats on a good day,
ps little wobble and big $$$$$...
