After placing a new Shakspeare Phase III AM/FM antenna on my boat I found that my VHF looks worn and weathered. I'm ordering a new VHF Phase III from BOE, but it only comes without a cable. Do I just cut my old cable and add a new connection or order a new cable as well?

I would order the new cable. The multi pin connector may be a bit#ch to reconnect, also if the connection isn't good you will give up some long distance reception.

If it didn't come with a cable, then you may have ordered just the mast that will thread into your existing mount.

From the manufacturer:

Antenna mounting has also been designed for more versatility. Phase III's newly engineered ferrules accommodate a variety of installation possibilities, including standard 1" - 14 thread mounts, and strapping or clamping to a mast. The ferrule, its coupling ring, and the "N" connector at the base allow the antennas to be quickly and easily installed without re-routing your existing coax

RF cabling, particularly cable exposed to the elements, is definitely a wear item with finite service life. If you will ever potentially rely on this radio to save a life- I would install new. Best, Mike
