Twin Mercruiser 5.7L EFI w/ Alpha Ones
My work has taken me to Thailand, and I smiled when I got to ride in on of the longboats (like water taxis). They are so very different from my 290 Sundancer!!

The boat simply has a big engine mounted on a swivel, with a long drive shaft, and a propeller on the end.

Pro: Easy engine maintenance.
Con: Loud and smelly.

Pro: Slim and fast.
Con: Not a lot of creature comfort.

Enjoy the pics.

Reminds me of "The Man with the Golden Gun" - fantastic scene with those types of boats if you haven't seen the movie.

Is that a water pump fan spinning with no guard on it ??. :wow: . :wow:

If the fan is installed backwards the helmsmen can stay cool. In the Asia’s as well as many other countries, safety is merely a concept rather than policy.

Snapped the attached picture while in Korea. They were paving a 5 point intersection in down town Pusan with no barriers, flagmen, or signs. Cars were driving through fresh asphalt that hadn't even been rolled out. It was quite a sight.

Yup, the safety precautions here are basically ZERO. You are completely on your own. You have to watch every step you take for fear of falling down a hole in the street or being run over by traffic coming from every direction. It's very different from the states!

That's because they don't have great lawyers keeping them safe like we do here! :smt038

I'm actually sincere about that!! Now, I'll duck and cover . . . :smt100

There is a line between "basic protection" and nanny state.

We definately have gone too far the "other way". Have you read the manual for anything lately? Typically 8 pages of safety warnings like "don't use this garage door opener underwater" before you get to the 1 page on how the actual similar model might work.

Read the original post...this isn't in the United States  where we all go overboard with safety precautions. :smt001
