Verado outboard acts like its out of fuel

2013 300 hp L6 Verado - This weekend I had less than 1/4 tank of gas (VV was showing 17 gallons in each tank). I decide to head to the fuel dock - start the motors everything is fine until we hit the end of the 6-knot zone and I go to throttle up. As I throttle up to get on plane the port motor shuts down, almost like I ran out of fuel. No errors, warnings, or alarms. I thought maybe my gauges are off and I did run out of fuel so I limp to the fuel dock on one engine and add 40 gallons to each tank. I start the engine it runs for a few seconds and shut off. Still no errors, etc. I did this a few times. Then no start at all would occur. So I start researching and decide to start simple and replace the inline fuel filter. I changed it. It looked dirty and there was some pressure/fuel sprayed out from the inlet side of it. Dirty and clogged it seemed. (While I was at it, I did both motors). I start everything up and it seems to be working great. Let them both idle for a few minutes and have no problems. Rev up some with throttle only. No problems. I think problem solved. We decide to go out the next day. Start the motors, all good. Leave the slip all good. In the no wake zone, as I applied slight throttle (I think), the port motor shuts off again. We limp to our destination. I try to start again..nothing. Spend the day on the hook, head back and clean up. Give the motor another try and starts fine and runs for 30-40 seconds with throttle and then again at idle. Again I think I am good...then it shuts off and wont start back up again. I am confused... Could the filter be dirty again? Is it the FSM (if so I dont know much about these yet, havent researched)? Any other ideas? The issue seems to be when I apply load but I cant really confirm that because I never got going on day 2. Thoughts? Thanks!
