Verado 300 flusher question

Posted this probably in the wrong location earlier this week. I have the venture and it has twin 300 Verados. There are also dual flush ports that are handy to flush the engines when done. I noticed when running the engines that raw water is spitting out of that. I was doing some research and I heard that this could be a check valve issue and is common with outboards and really any flusher for an engine. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it an easy fix?
