Yesterday my wife pulled up the seat pads over the mid-cabin to clean under them. They are held in place by two large velcro straps. One is glued to the gelcoat and the other is stapled to the seat bottom. Well as luck would have it she loosened all the staples on one of the strips on the seats. :( I was able to re-tack most of them but I know it will happen again. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or whether anyone else has a solution to it other than the velcro?

Thanks.

Dave: When we first got our boat, we thought the factory goofed! I have not done it yet, but I thought about running my hand between the two strips to seperate them. However I may come out with a bloody stub...

This is an interesting concept to hold on a seat cushion...

Stray Cat................If my staples come loose again, I think I will try several small patches of Velcro instead of the one long band they use. On my one seat the velcro band is about a foot long and maybe 2 inches wide. To me thats a major overkill anyway. You just don't need that much "sticking power" on those seats.

Sea Ray could permanently fix the problem by moulding a few recesses into the upper part of the mid cabin that the seats rest on. Since the underside of the mid cabin is padded anyway, I am sure they could keep the recesses shallow enough so you wouldn't even see them from inside the Mid Cabin. Then all they would need on the seat bottoms were some of the grey gizmos like they use to hold seats in place that go over open storage areas.

Anyways if you haven't removed yours yet, pull them up gently  That may save you from having the same thing happen to you.

3M makes an adhesive body molding tape that sticks something fierce. I mean once you stick something on with it, it will never come lose again. I swear you could permanently mount engines and trannies into the bilge with this tape. Let me know if you're interested and I'll run in the garage and get you the detail.

Alex..............I think a different velcro arrangement is probably what I will do first so as to not create so much stress by having one large strip. Using that glue you mention may also be a good idea so yes I would like to know what it is. The reason they use staples is probably because there is no other way to get the velcro fastened to the back of the netting material on the seat cushion. Maybe that glue would be a better choice.

Thanks.

Let me look it up tomight ... it is a tape and easy to apply, but boy when it's on you'll never get it off.

It is OEM stuff to mount body moldings to cars, so you can see that it has to stick like #ell and last too ...

The velcro on the 37 SR Express seat (aft facing) was held on with adhesive and several stainless steel screws and washers. In my experience this worked well and did not fail. Might be worth looking at. SBW
