The water and air temps are so high down here, me and all my boating buddies have been hit with vapor lock this past week.

Sunday we got stuck in a severe thunderstorm at dark, waiting for the engine to cool off enough to start. Lightning, driving winds, hail, torrential rain. Had five kids on board, they all huddled in the tiny bathroom of the 220 sundeck. :smt100

We were at the beach when it happened, and the strong winds blew the boat up onto the sand bar! An hour of pushing and digging after the storm was over, and we were still up on dry land! :wow:

Flagged a few fishermen down who helped us shove her back in the wet. I thought for a minute the boat was going to roll over, she leaned so far as we pushed her down the beach. :smt038

Once we got back in the water, she started right up (amazing how three inches of rain and 15 minutes of hail can cool things off).

Drove the 15 miles home in the dark - and it was very dark - power outages all up the lake. Huge drifts of milfoil broke away from the shallows and were out in the main channel. Get back to the house and everything blew out of the boathouse into the water. Trampoline gone, boathouses blown down at the end of the cove, trees down (but not at my house). What a mess!

What an adventure, but it felt great to put my head on my pillow after I was sure we were going to have to sleep on the boat on the beach!
