Looking at moving to a cruiser from my 2006 290EX bowrider.

Started looking at 350 but cannot justify. On to the 330 and really liked. Started adding options and gets back up there.

Found a '05 340DA with only 33 hours. Dealer wants $208,000.

Well loaded w/ two TVs, central vac, Sirius, etc.

Any help with what a reasonable offer should be? Seems like initial search of used '05 340DAs result in highest asking price in the mid $180s.

Any input much appreciated.

The 340 is one of the best price-to-space values in the searay lineup. We would need a few more pieces of information re your question on prices. Engine set-up? Genset? Hours? Electronics? Will you be trading in the 290? Lastly, where are you and the boat located?

Original retail sticker $277,000.

Twin 8.1s, 5.0 kohler gen, gps-raynav 300, prem sound, sirius, smartcraft system view, spotlight, sun pad, 10.4" flipdown tv w/dvd mid cabin, central vac, ss windshield frame, 22" bulkhead TV.

Most likely sell 290 outright as couple of friends really want it.

Current and orignal owners not using enough to justify, 33 engine hours, 150 generator hours.

Need a bit more info to help with pricing:Freshwater Boat??? Radar or GPS only??? Cockpit fridge or ice maker?? Cockpit cover?? Gel coat dash??? Colored Hull or White??
I moved up to our 340 in 04' from a 280 SS and have been very pleased.

Forget the original sticker. Waaaay overpriced. Look at yachtworld, many 05 340's to be had well below 200k.

An 05 340 shouldn't cost anywhere near 200k despite the low hours. At the end of last year they were being purchased anywhere from 150k - 170k on the high end. An example would be 153k for an 05 paid in Oct 07. Boat had a dinghy and 3.5 hp motor included as well as all the major options. Your dealer is nuts to want that much!!

Low hours doesn't necessarily mean the boat is a great buy. I have a neighbor who owns a boat just to say he owns a boat. He has an '06 340DA with less than 10hours on it. That boat gets NO attention....not even to check the oil/fluid levels. It's wintered in the water and has not been borded to "check" things out since some "lowest bidder" traveling winterizing guy was on it in September. When another neighbor went with him to run the boat in August, the boat wouldn't even get on plane because of the bottom/prop growth.....and that growth is still there. Sure, down below is clean....but only because it didn't get dirty enough from "time" yet.

I found looking at boat sale ad's you will get a much better deal if you don't buy from a dealer and buy from someone selling it on their own. Just make sure you get a really good survey of the boat and you should be fine and save a ton of money. Keep looking there are litterally thousands of boats for sale just in my area, I've seen 2002 340DA's with less then 100 hours for under 100k

Damn, that makes me want to cry...........:smt089 There should be a law..............

FYI....Theres one at my marina for sale. 2006 340DA, 6.2 v-drives I think. Was a leftover and only has a few hours on it 'cause the owner quickly moved up. It has *every* single option. 3 TVs, upgraded stereo, black hull, platform lights, bow thruster, and even the faux-teak cockpit floor (major $$ option), etc. Its beautiful and spotless. I think they are *asking* $199K for it.

So I wouldn't pay over $165K for a fully loaded 2005 given what I'm sure you could get a practically new '06 for....

I have a 2005 340DA that I purchased in 9-06 with about 100 hours on it. I paid what I considered to be the higher end of the spectrum at that time ($189k). That was almost 2 years ago. There is no way I would pay $208k for it now!

go to boattraderonline.com and you can compare 2005 340's from all over the country and get a true idea of what the boat is worth. I saw 2005's from $160,000 and up.

Yachtmaster,
Send me a PM with your email address, and I will look what has sold in your area.

Yachtmaster,
Only one 2005 Sundancer 340 has sold from Jan 07 through March 2008 in the Great lakes area. The boat was powered with 8.1's and sold for 179K and some change. Asking price was 199,500. Boat was on the market for eight months
Information obtained from boat wizards soldboats.com Hope this helps

Thomas, how about in the southeast? Fl to NC.
I had an 03 at 120k pending but found too many issues. I'm currently looking at 05's. Heres one that interests me.

05 340 DA 8.1 VD's
Kohler genset
2 Northstar GPS w/ smartcraft integration
Sat TV
Radar
cockpit cover
windshield cover
teak steps and galley floor
Transom stereo remote
all three tv's in cabin
Sat radio
underwater lights
central vac
cockpit fridge
sunpad w/ stainless rails
Blue hull and more that I'm forgetting

The warr. history was very minor, scratches etc. Originally sold in June 06 so it's still under Merc factory warranty I believe.
I already know what the bottom dollar is on it but want to know what others are going for.
Sorry for hijacking the original but maybe this could help also?
Thanks SB

Well, don't keep us in suspense. Once you get your answer, please let us know. By the way, you'll have to spring for the SS cupholders, but otherwise, it's pretty loaded. I say that boat is a steal at 150,000, and that asking will be 179,000. These are my opinion only - assumes perfectly clean and about 200 hours.

I left out the nickel dash, macerator, spotlight etc. You really think its a steal at 150k? Most are listed in the upper 160's to 170's and not really comparably equipped. This boat is FULLY loaded as you see. Of course I have not seen it with my own eyes yet but the broker is calling it an 8.5-9 on a 1-10 with a new boat at 9.5. There are other things that have been done to it too that I haven't mentioned. Owner installed a freshwater flush system of some sort and a few little things here and there. I've been in negotiations for a few days and am right at the 150 mark. Making my decision tonight. SB

I'm confused. This one is loaded. Others, less loaded are listed around 170, so yours would list around 180 maybe? You're down around 150 and are not sure that it's a steal? Write in the contract that it is contingent on healthy exhaust manifolds as well as personal inspection, sea trial, and survey. (If still in corossion warranty, don't worry about the manifolds, but get them replaced before the 3rd year!!!!!!!!!!!!).

There is one that was on E-bay last week for 145,000, and everyone here thought that was a steal. I think it's a great deal. Look at what 320's are asking. (Not same as selling for, but it gives you an idea). If it works for you, I think it's a decent deal.

Your dealers on crack. The market is tanked and inventory is on the floor for months if not years at a time right now. The 30 - 50 foot market has been hit hardest that they can barely give them away. Do your homework and you'll find just what you want for less than you think.
