Hi, this is my second post about this topic, but I need some expert VacuFlush advice now. I replaced the water valves, spring cartridge, ball, and seals on both my toilets (Mansfield type 848) a few months back. One has worked flawlessly since then, the other has an intermittent leakage of water from the bowl. I’ve tried three different types of seals between the base and the bowl, and tried various repositioning of the half-clamps and tightness of the band around the half-clamps, but this very slow leakage persists (it takes about 30 min for the bowl to go from normal water level to no water).

Having taken it apart numerous times, I recognize that the leak could be between either the seal and the ball, or between the seal and the base or bowl. Since I see little to no water on the floor around the toilet, can I assume that the leak is between the seal and the ball?

Since the leak is very slow, and persists even with trying several types of seals, there must be a seal-to-surface irregularity somewhere. Any thoughts on how to diagnose where it is? Is there an oil or grease that could be applied to fill that small irregularity? Some have suggested veg oil or red rubber grease?

My slow leak ended up being the ball. Even though it looked pristine. I have replaced seals essentially every year until I replaced the ball as well and was pleased to make it through the season with zero issues.

You could try dripping food coloring in the bowl while watching. It may lead you to where the leak is.

Could be small dirt in the ball seal area or in duck bills. We have one head that leaks slowly from time to time replacing parts does not help. To stop it for a month or so I put in a lot of dish soap let it sit 12 hours then fill bowl and flush and let sit 12 hours.
