With no previous problems, my Vacuflush flushes, bowl has normal inch of water in it, and pump creates vacuum. Then 2 minutes later the pump runs again and the bowl is empty. I cleaned the seal and ball earlier today and it worked fine several times only to act up again. This time the cleaning worked 15 minutes then pump cycled.

Thanks, MM

We also go by the "if you don't eat it, don't flush it" rule.

You may need a new seal for the bowl. After you clean it try rubbing some lube (light oil) around the lip and see if that works.

Yep, clean the seal well and apply some lube.

That's what all the women say.

I have used cooking oil and once used some vaseline (lightly).

I don't recall the name, but I got some marine rubber lube from WM. There's nothing special to it. Google it and you'll find lots of products. I think vaseline will do fine as well.

Vaseline will break rubber down.

I would not use vaseline!! Don't you remember the lectures on vaseline and condoms? That was a big no-no and probably responsible for the baby boom! :smt001

I used to service pools when I was in college and whenever vaseline was used we always had to replace the O-rings due to breakdown!

Go to your local pool supply store. They will have some thing called "Jack's Lube" or similar. This is a silicone based lubricant that is a white pasty substance like grease but will not break down rubber components like a vaseline type product will.

Or you can just replace the rubber seal in the toilet. It's pretty easy... not even a stinky job. If yours are original, they are due...

Replace the seals in the toilet. You are prolonging the inevitable by doing anything else. Eventually, you won't be able to keep water in the bowl, so you won't be able to flush, so you will piss of the Admiral, so your life will be miserable until...

you replace the seals in the bowl.

See how all that works?

Hmmmmmm, interesting comment. When I bought new seals at the boat show from the SeaLand people I was told to coat the seals with Vaseline.

They also suggested that when you flush a Vacuflush toilet that after holding the pedal down for 3 seconds that you let it snap up. That keeps the ball seal clean.

..... When I bought new seals at the boat show from the SeaLand people I was told to coat the seals with Vaseline. ......

They sell alot of seals that way....OR....their seals aren't made of 100% rubber...possibly synthetic.

I was also told vaseline was OK by Sealand. Strange

I am pretty sure that Vaseline is petroleum based and that petroleum based products are contraindicated for use with rubber (and maybe latex rubber) products. A better choice is a silicone lube such as that found at a pool supply store.

Go upto your local pep boys or autozone.....for 1.99 you can buy those little packets of silicone dielectric grease that is sold for battery posts......
