We have one of 2 heads that has a very small leak between the upper and lower half. The ball seal does not leak the leak is at the external mating surfaces. I have replace the ball seal 3 times and it still leaks. Last time I covered the seals in plumbers silicon. It still leaks. Question has any one put plumbers putty in the flat area beyond the ball in the flat area. I was thinking of silicon calking but it would be a lot of work to remove later.

Is the ball scored with scratches. That is also replacable

Ball is not scratched. The pump does not leak and cycle. I put in new pump as the tech that fixes them was on holidays last summer. The system works fine but there is a leak onto the floor.
The discharge line is out the side below the ball area and above the floor. The foam gasket sits on the floor I assume it is to help with loading of the head to the floor.
The area the ball seal sits in the flat area was wet last time I changed the seal

That foam gasket sits between the bottom of the cartridge that holds the ball and the top of the floor flange. Sounds like that is your issue to me.

Where exactly is the leak coming from and is it fresh water or black water? I had to fix a couple leaks around base of the toilet and the water valve... each different issues and fixes.

exactly what is your leak? could be your water valve or fitting

Black water accumulates at base. I just assumed the leak was at the ball and it leaked down the outside to the floor. Will change the foam flange.
Thanks all for your help.

I changed the set of gaskets between base and toilet, I think they are rubber. When I did I still had a leak at times so became an expert on taking it back apart a few times. What I learned after rewatching a youtube video is that you can over tighten the rings that pinch the gaskets, and then they leak.

Happy wrenching!
