I am looking for some help with my Vacuflush/Dometic 1006 head system in my 2002 300 Sundancer. The head to my knowledge was original when I purchased the boat earlier this year but it worked fine. A few weeks ago, we had a number of people on the boat so the head got a lot more use that usual. Since then I have noticed that I have lost the vacuum seal on the head. Now the head pump will run for a bit, maybe 30 seconds and then shut off. Then for the next 3-5 minutes it will be quiet and then after then the head pump will kick back on without a flush. This cycle continues as long as I have the head switch on. My first attempt at the issue was to change the seal kit and I saw the same issue. Next I replaced the foot pedal valve as well as the ball, shaft & spring and still the same issue. My last attempt what to replace the 2 plastic half clamps and stainless hose clamp. Can anyone please let me know if there is something I am missing or some other part that I can replace? Thank you in advance.

I wish I was a Lucky Man with this head.

Others here know more than me, but if you've focused your attention at the head end, you haven't replaced the duck bill valves on/at the vacuum pump which is the last stop before the black water tank. Safe bet (I think) that is where you're loosing pressure, which in turn is causing your pump to cycle to replace the pressure that was lost.

Your luck may be better than you realize, in that those duck bill valves are among the lesser of the possible head evils.

I know your frustration. I bought my 2000 310DA 4 years ago. I have the VG2 system. The flush took the vac system maybe 1 minute to stop. Then it got longer and longer. I replaced the duck bills, put in a new pump and vac switch. Nothing made it better. My SR dealer replaced the duck bills the following year. It was better, but that quickly degraded to the vac system running 10 minutes. I had to turn the breaker off.

The SR Service Mgr had the Tech come and take the vac/accumulator tank out. It was full of Toilet paper. I think the prior owner used regular TP instead of marine TP.

After being cleaned out it cycles for 20 seconds and turns off after a flush.

I think one of your guests flushed something they should not have.
