Hi all: I have a goofy question. I usually don't use a pump out station for my head. I pump overboard. Don't be grossed out - I go out about 5 miles to do so. I tries to use the pump-out at the marina yesterday and the hose began to drain it out , but only a few ounces passed by the window & then it stopped. The marina dude said its usually a plugged up vent in the boat. Whats up?. Is he talking about the vent that filters through the $100 filter? Wouldn't the flushing action be impaired if the vent was plugged? Anybody have a suggestion? Thanks

Have you got a "Y" valve? If so, make sure it is turned so that you can pump out the deck fitting, instead of overboard through the discharge pump.

FYI - It should be a near full tank when you pump out using the dockside discharge. Also, be sure there are no air leaks in the deck fitting or were you connect the discharge hose.

Many pump out machines don't suck very well until primed.
Let it fill with seawater then shut the valve while still running.
Then, stick it into your deck fitting and open the valve.
Always let it rinse out with seawater after you are done.
