Looking for suggestions to make my 98/310 v-berth more comfortable. Some have used foam toppers etc. Any suggestions short of having a custom mattress made?
We splashed her this past weekend and I was reminded by my back it was time to improve the berth.

3" Memory foam from overstock.com. Buy a King and cut to fit in V-Berth. Best purchase I have made.

We also used the 3" memory foam, I was able to cut ours out of a Queen Size, got ours through Sam's Club. If you cut the memory foam use an old electric cutting knife.
Slept on our for the first time this past weekend, it was very comfortable.

Just ordered a 2" memory foam from overstock.com too.... Hopefully that will take the edge off of our berth.... Ours was OK just wanted a little softness..

we got the memory foam and took it one step further.. we had it cut into two pices and had custom covers made at a shop that they put zippers on. We could take the covers off take them home and wash them. The two pc gave us the ability to move them.

For the last six years we used 2inch foam, switched to 3inch foam this year, something called memory foam, the best we ever had, slept like a log...

Are you using the 3" memory foam in place of the factory cushions or using it on top of them?

How does the memory foam do with the split in it? We have a 3 piece cushion in our mid berth and the gaps between the sections are noticable. Does the memory foam do a good job of hiding the section line?

Do you guys remove the existing SeaRay mattress and install the memory foam or put it over the existing? Thanks, this is a great thread.

I bought a 2" thick piece of memory foam from overstock.com and stuffed it in the mattress pad on top of the existing pad. Very comfortable. Used an electric knife to cut edges on a bevel to make it look great too. Got the king size pad for under $100.

The original mattress on our 330 was terrible. Two years ago I contacted Knox Foam out of Knoxville Tn. Jody was a huge help in having a custom mattress built for our boat. I made patterns of the two sections, sent them to her in a mailing tube and 10 days later we had a custom mattress of 3" base,2" of 5lb and 1" of 4lb memory foam. Last year we spent 40 of 52 weekends on the boat Friday and Saturday night. It was worth every penny.--Cary

Yea it's obviously going over the existing so called mattress.

Factory boat mattresses are what they are because there is no 36" by 88" entry door. If your companion way door is that big, chances are you have a "real" mattress.
we put 3" over. Cut a Queen size, and glued the cut offs to the sides to create the keystone shape most forward cabin berths have. Been great for 7 years. Slept on it last night.
