My swim platform seems to get a green stain every year. I have used soft scrub and acetone but it still has a green stain from the water. Can I use muriatic acid on the platform without damaging it? I have never used the stuff so just being careful.

Thanks

Jabs

It probably is algae and its staining the platform but the stain is a b**th to get out. White vinegar seemed to help the waterline some but there are spots on the hull and swim platform that I can't get out its frustrating me.

Yes, used bleach last year it helps but some spots just wont get white. I figured acetone would take care of it all but it didn't remove all of it.

Try Slimy Grimy. It's safe to use around the water - won't harm anything in the water. You can even your fingers to put it on if it's only a small area - just smear it on.

I have great luck with this:

Firecadet had bad staining on his swim platform and this with a GOOD Shurehold stiff deck brush cleaned what he had not been able to get off before. MM

Everyone gave you alternatives, but no one gave you the answer. Yes you can use it. However, keep it away from Aluminum/Stainless. Just use it on the gel. I'd dilute it unless you have a big staining problem.

Like 390 said, yes, you can use it and it won't harm the gel one bit. But be careful - both for yourself and plants/animals. Also, if you splash any on bottom paint it can stain it a yellowish/greenish color. There are safer options.

Above is my post, but when it appears in the forum, staining appears twice. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Yes, I'm hijacking a bit!

Do you mean the word "staining" in your original post, #8? No, it only appears once.
