Hi Tom,
Is it possible to upgrade from my original trim tab indicators to the new led indicator?
I've included pictures of my current set up and my new indicator.
Thank,
Dwayne

I can't upload the pics for some reason. My current indicators are in a black housing ( 2 ) with a ribbon connector going to each indicator. My new indicator is the new single led unit.

Hi Dwayne,

I think you are describing our old Trimdicator system. They look like this:

The TPI2000 is the current "standalone" display.

They do use the same sensors and if they are still working they can be used with the new display.
The red and green cables from your old sensors will connect to the back of the new display. If the old sensors are faulty, the have the same footprint and hole pattern as the new ones in yout kit so it would be quite easy to replace them if need be.

Of course you will need to fabricate a cover for the old holes for the displays in your dashboard to accommodate the new display.

I hope this is helpful.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the quick response. You're exactly right on the old and the new indicator (s). My question is that each of the old indicator had a 8 wire ribbon conector. How do I wire the new indicator?

Thanks, Dwayne

Here is another option, an upgaded switch with an indicator.

Dwayne,

The new indicator does not have a separate control box under the dash. The sensor wires and power go directly to the back of the display unit (no ribbon cables at all).

Here is a link to the installation instructions http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/pdf/instIcon/TPI_installation_instructions.pdf

As Trevor points out you could also consider the EIC5000 Electronic Indicator Control. It replaces the rocker switch on your dashboard and could also reuse the old sensors. But you would still need to cover the old display holes, and for that reason I think the TPI along with a "cover plate" of some sort may be your best option.
