I've done a search, but seems to bring up most "official XXXX thread" with exhaustive reading to find anything relevant to my topic, so I thought I would ask.

I recently redid the flooring with faux wood vinyl strips with real oak trim, turned out nice. Leaving the "vertical" carpeting (still in good shape). Counter top and cabinets are still "modern" enough.

Want to update/upgrade the ceiling material and side cushion material around the bow. My mother in law can assist with upgraded covers for all the front/rear interior cushions.

So my question is, how in the heck would one go about upgrading/replacing the ceiling material? It looks like it might be a huge project and may not be worth the effort??? I'm assuming taking apart the side cushions along the bow isn't too tough, but if I can't upgrade the roof, I may just learn to live with what I got as it is in good conditions, just wanted it to look more modern.

The ceiling material has a few stains and one tear from a sharp object from PO. Any thoughts on how to go about this project? Thanks in advance.

Anybody have a link that has better search skills than I do?

Seriously....nobody on this site has any suggestions on how to go about this project or have a link to a forum from somebody who has done this before???? I gotta believe there are some experts that have done complete restores with similar boats and can suggest some things???? My boat is in great condition for a '91, I just want to updated the interior a little and get rid of the stains and one tear in the ceiling material. Please help!

Thanks :)

I haven't taken any yet, been using the boat and with 2 kids it doen't take long to get messed up. I plan on taking some pics I can post this weekend. It worked out really well. I ended up using 1/4 birch wood, poly'd/waterproofed all sides. Cut it as a template to fit on the floor. Then used waterproof glue to stick the 3" strips to the floor. I fastened the birch wood to the floor with some stainless screws, but minimal, almost like a floating floor. Finished it off with oak corner round and polished carpet ends on the stairs and where the front table/floor goes (also helps keep it in place and finished it off nicely). It turned out really well, for relatively inexpensive compared to other options, but I easily have over 40 hours of work into it for hardly any square footage. The main thing is there isn't a right angle anywhere on that boat and some sections of the floor are angled to the countour of the bottom of the boat. It really dressed it up and is a lot easier to clean up by wiping with water and a rag vs. having to vacuum the carpet every week. I also put a nice rug in front of the sink just for a little protection. Don't know about long-term durability, but I don't plan on having this boat much longer than 3 years before the next upgrade.
