So.....the admiral and I made the mistake of going to a local dealer yesterday to "look" at boats....just to get storage ideas or things we could change on our boat to make it more comfortable. She has been pretty set on us not even considering an upgrade for another couple years. Well, she really likes the newer boats!! We don't want to make too big of a jump and become dock poor as mooring an storage rates obviously goes up with larger boats. We are looking at late 90's 340's. My question is, how do you 340 owners like your boat and the bigger question, in your opinions is the 340 a noticeable and big enough upgrade from our current boat?? A big thing for us is the full berth bed vs that stupid angled bed we have now. The 340 as best I can tell is the smallest boat that has that. Any advise or guidance is greatly appreciated as this is kind of unplanned and unexpected right now. Thanks in advance!!

If your going to make the jump go at least 370 (40 loa) in the late 90's. 340 is just not that much of a jump- and im not saying that just because I have a 370 for sale! Seriously though I can't tell you much about the 340 but we went from a 300 to the 370 and it was perfect. Go as big as you can afford, it will save you in the long run. Good luck.

I agree with Russ that 300 to 340 is not a jump that can easily be justified. Being within a budget I would rather find nice slightly older but larger boat. If you in doubt go take a look at late 90s 340 and then mid 90s 370 and you'll see for yourself that it's a huge difference between the two, not to mention justification of the jump from 300.

As you can see from my sig. I'm not a big fan of jumping 4'.

The 340 is a great boat. There is a 99 berthed behind me and a 98 370 beside me. Both are great boats and having had the chance to operate both the 340 is quicker. However the room and comfort of the 370 is a lot more. I would like to move up my self to a newer 370 but it's pointless being in a 350. If it were me in your position I would look at 97 and up 370's. 95 and 96 the arch is lower and depending on how tall you are you can't stand up to operate. I suppose my next step to make it worth while would be a 420 or 450. But that is a long way off. Best of luck with your search though. Oh the 6" more beam in the 370 is a huge difference as well.

I upgraded to a 95' 370 sundancer and love it! We looked at 340 but loved the beam and room the 370 has to offer. Another considerations if you do your own maintence is the engine compartment, I could have a small party in mine. Go with mid 90s 370 and you wont regret it!

I agree that the 370 is a great boat. We had one for 8 years and it was a great size to run and stay on. Good luck with the search.

I upgraded from a 270 to a 350 so the difference was significant and worthwhile, especially since the early '90's 350 is almost identical in size to the mid '90's 370. I agree with the others who say go as big as you can reasonably afford. A late '90's 370 would probably be a good choice.

Mm on long island has a 98' 370. Totally redone interior, awesome boat they showed me the boat altough, too small for my family the boat is beautiful. Ps they had a meeting and where told to Deal, deal, deal on the boats that they own . The 370 is one of them , look it up. Good luck

Thanks everyone! I originally planned on (someday) upgrading to the 370, but talked myself down to a 340. You guys have no successfully got me back on the hunt for a 370!! The only real issue at this point is whether or not we will be able to stay at our current slip with that size boat. We love our docks and our neighbors and at this point are not willing to give them up. I know the 340 will work there, but I question the 370. I am going to call my marina in the morning and see what they say about it. Thanks again for the great feedback, as always!!
