Hi guys,

I have a serious case of "upgraditis" and this is my new thought:

http://www.boatsales.com.au/boats-f...437475&Silo=Stock&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=3&eapi=2

I currently have a 240 as per my signature and I need something for myself, the wife and 2 young children as well as something that will be fun in the sun. We usually have 4-6 adults and 4 children on the 240 and it is tight!

I really would like something to fish off as well as the 240 does not afford this small luxury. The rear swim deck would make this possible.

Could I please get some thoughts on the upgrade and the price ( remembering we have $ parity) and whether I should consider getting a boat from the USA east coast?

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Remember to factor in air flight or flights, I know many have done it, but personally I wouldn't buy a boat without looking at it, there are plenty of stories and threads on here of surveyors not doing their job correctly.

Also conversion of 120v wiring to 240v.

Plus cleaning and shipping costs.

There are so many boats coming over at present so obviously worth doing, I will probably do it myself when upgrade time beckons.

But I would really want to inspect the boat myself and do my own sea trial before paying for a survey.

Hi Matt,

My other thought is 4-6 adults and 4 children on board, is moving from the 240 to the 280 enough?. Or are you just going to get footitis very quickly again?

We have a 94 330DA which is fairly large, I think to get the same size boat in the newer models we are looking at a 36-38'. I wouldn't want to be any smaller with the number of people on board you are suggesting above.....that maybe a personal observation though.
Our personal like, is a much rear deck space as possible, as this is where you spend most of the time.
