I shared a couple of thoughts on this topic with Dominic and he suggested I post it here and see if I can pick up some ideas.

Looking for a check on my thinking – hope you can help.

I am adding the dual boost (2”) and dual EGT (3”) from Tim at Designated Engineer. Challenge is to figure out where to place them. I am also adding a Bennett trim tab position sender that will display on a 2” Lowrance LMF200 multifunction gauge (NMEA2000).

I’m considering removing both fuel gauges and using one hole for the LMF200 and the other for the boost. I can add Lowrance EP65R senders to the NMEA2K network at the helm to give me fuel level readout on the LMF200. Senders connect to the existing fuel gauge wiring - easy.

Also, added Aetna digital tachs last summer (great addition) so the combination of the tachs and the Glendenning sync make the sync gauge less useful. This uses a 3” hole – same as the EGT. So, remove the sync gauge and use this hole for the EGT.

This gives me a chance to mount three new gauges (boost, EGT and LMF200) and provide readout for all existing and new data without drilling any new holes.

If you can make any sense out of this – any thoughts or concerns I’m missing?

Rick and I are both adding an EGT and Boost gauge to our mechanical diesels.

My comments were that I wasn't happy losing the sync gauge, although with the Aetna Digital tachs, it really isn't necesarry any more. I really like the LMF200 NMEA 2000 electronic gauge. I'm just not sure about the placement.

On another 410 I saw, the owner added two 2" gauges to the lower switch panel at the helm. I'm leaning towards that set up right now. (see pic below)

Anyone else add a boost and/or EGT gauge to their mechanical motors? Anyone have any experience with LMF200/400 gauges?

I have had nothing but problems with my lmf200. It didn't read the fuel flow sensors at all when I first installed it. Then lowerance sent me 3 new t connectors. Then it worked intermitently. I am going to try to get 3 more t connectors.... Very frusterating.

After two seasons with the LMF200 on a previous boat I can't fault the gauge. I did install the fuel flow senders (EP-10) and found them to be a real pain. The fuel level and trim tab senders worked without fault.
In short, I'd say the issue was with the EP-10 sending units, not the display.
