I have finally finished the de-stripping project - Also, I have settled on a name for this old girl -- HEART ATTACK -- I feel it's only appropriate, since I just recently had a heart attack !!! I am lucky in the fact it wasn't any worst than it was. they inserted 1 stint and told me I had 80% blockage. No doubt this will be life changing to some extent. I bought this boat because I wanted a project and I enjoy giving life back to old vehicles (or crafts). It may be a longer project than I 1st anticipate. A lot of the mechanical refits I looked forward to doing, I may now have to hire out.

Back to the stripping. As you can see I still have a lot of glue/adhesive to remove. Then I want to start buffing the hull. I ordered the buffing supplies. Now, I have to convince my family buffing this is not strenuous :)

You may want to consider wet sanding prior to buffing....

WV, I have ordered a cutting/buffing compound (if I'm saying that correct) for badly oxidized gel coating. If that doesn't work, I will wet sand.

Thanks

Go, -- I didn't mean to imply it's not strenuous (I know better) --- but since I've been advised to not do anything strenuous, I must convince my family it's not!! :)

Never got to the point of a heart attack, but had a stent put in my LAD to correct a 99% blockage back about 15 years ago. Did strenuous cardio at the gym for many years prior to the stent (probably the reason I never had a heart attack) and still do about 2 hours of strenuous cardio in the gym at least 4 times a week now.
At almost 65, I still use the machine to polish out my own boat, and two other boats, two collector cars, and 4 daily drivers regularly. The back is starting to object, but not the heart.
My advice, if you aren’t in good physical shape at a reasonable weight, then get that way. Join a gym and maintain it. Look at it like it’s a part time job.
Once in shape, live life, do anything you want on your boat that your body (back) allows.

JM, thanks for the reply. The heart attack was a real shocker. I've been retired for 7 years now. I'll be 70 on my next birthday. My weight is good (maybe 5 lbs over) I go to the gym 5 days a week. My diet is fairly healthy, I quit smoking 20 years ago, don't do drugs and have maybe 2 drinks a week. I raced motorcycles for 43 years, just quit a few years ago. I own a little acreage and I cut almost 4 acres. My mailbox is almost a 1/2 mile from my house and I walk it almost everyday.

I felt I was in pretty good shape. Except for the blockage, I probable was :) -

Socks, don't worry too much, you'll recover well. My dad who is 88 had a heart attack in October of 2018. They put in two stents in his right coronary artery. He just finished his cardiac rehab at the heart center and is supposed to do two hours of strenuous exercise a week. He uses my treadmill three times a week. He still cuts firewood with the chainsaw and stacks it in his wood shed. Amazing man, probably tougher than I am.

Scorpio, thanks for the encouraging words. Your dad sounds like an amazing man.
