Inoperable shower box is not the problem. Well, it was a problem, but apparently not responsible or wholly responsible for the wet spot on the carpet between the head and the galley. Shower box is working now and the area under the trashcan/cabin step is dry. Went out Saturday for more cleaning and such and found the carpet dry and the shower box sump dry also. Success!? No. Later, something we did with water leaked and made another wet spot. I turned on the water pump switch shortly after boarding. We used the sink in the head and the sink in the galley and flushed the toilet once, and that's the only water that was used on the boat all day, probably less than a gallon. So I figure either a sink supply or drain line is leaking, or the toilet is leaking upon being flushed. I did hear the water pressure pump switch on twice although no faucet was in operation. So this brings up a couple more questions....First of all, are any of these lines, supply or drain accessible for inspection? Do both the head and galley sink use a common drain and if so where do they join?

This is a manual toilet. Should I remove the unit to inspect below for signs of a leak?

From this point I am approching the problem as a leak from internal source, either water pumped in to flush the toilet (if it's a toilet-related leak) or water from the fresh water tank in the case of a drain or supply leak. My initial feeling is that the water pressure pump is pushing a slow drip somewhere. Confirming or finding out where is the next challenge. Any ideas?

Check the hot water heater. When you run the boat, and the hot water heater heats, it builds pressure. It could either be the pop off valve, or the line between the freshwater pump and the hot water heater.

Will do, but to this point I have not used the hot water heater. We took ownership only 3 weeks ago and I've yet to switch the breaker on. I have checked for flow and water comes out the hot side (with a very obvious odor not apparent on the cold side, but that's for another day). I could have a leak on the hot supply side even without heating water, since the entire system is pressurized anyway.

Even though you haven't turned it on, it may be heating. On your boat, the engine water may circulate through the HWH to heat it. Some boats have this as well as an electric element to heat water.

Found the leak, now need a fitting!!!!???...or should say found A leak, that is responsible or at least contributing to the wet spot on the carpet between head and galley. The cold side supply line to the head sink is leaking, dripping into the trough in the floor inside the vanity and most likely finding its way to the low spot and wicking up into the carpet. I suspected it was a supply line or pressure-related leak due to the intermittent cycling of the water pressure pump when water was not being used (but switch was on), but with my inexperience it was just a guess at best. My challenge now is to either a)replace the offending fitting with one just like it or b)cobble something together to connect the two lines. As far as I can tell, this type adapter fitting is no longer available, so option a) is out. Option b) will be my probably fix. The problem is, the line sizes I need to seal are 1/4 od copper (chromed) tubing from the sink to 5/8 gray plastic (rigid) fitting.JPG from the supply. The current adapter is a 7 piece conglomeration (3 pieces pictured here) consisting of (from sink to supply) a female nut, a rubber sealing ferrule, a center adapter, an o-ring and washer, a retaining washer and finally another female nut. Anyone know where I can find such a creature or care to suggest an alternate fix? I have four of these fittings, two on the head sink and two on the galley sink and I'd like to replace them all. I am certainly able to put together something that will work, but would like to stay away from worm gear clamps and barbed hose fittings.

My 2000 270 is getting a wet spot in a similar area. Mostly shows up in the carpet in front of head door and wraps around the carpet on the upper shelf in the shower box. Mine seems to show up after rain, so I was suspecting the door was leaking somehow. Your doing a great job posting follow-ups. Might help me. Thanks.

Hello there,

Had same problem with my 2006 270. Tighten adjustment screws on all cabin windows. After that, no more wet carpet. Has been severals years now, and problem has not returned.

The wierd part about my wet carpet is that it only gets wet on the edge of the carpet along the head compartment door and the edge of the carpet on the upper shelf (there is a ledge that is at the same level as the floor) in the shower sump. I was convinced that the most likely path was the from the sump and running in front of the shower, but I have changed all the hoses in that area now and rain appears to be more of the culprit versus a water leak from the AC or the pump in the sump.

It has to be coming from the sump at that upper level, I just would think that a window would run down into the bottom of the sump. That clear as mudd????

I think someone posted on another thread that the area below the floor between the galley and the head is the lowest point on the boat, and that any water (from internal or external sources) could end up accumulating there. I think the wet spots we see are actually from the carpet (which does extend below the floor in places) wicking that accumulated water to the surface where it's obvious. That's what makes finding the source so much fun! It could be coming from anywhere! If the source of my leak is the head sink supply like I suspect, then I consider myself lucky. I too started looking at the shower sump, but since that was repaired it has stayed bone dry while my car-pet gently weeps (sorry George).

I just bought a 2007 320 and while it has only 80 hours the one wart was a water stain in the carpet where the head door and galley meet. It was dry when we bought it and we assumed a refrigerator accident was the cause. Now after a little use it is wet. Could not feel wetness anywhere under the galley sink. What is the likely cause and solution?
