All,

I talked to my local SR dealer today about the fuel gauge (see other thread for more info). The parts guy said it was 50/50 as to whether it was the gauge or the sending unit. My question is how do I tell which one is bad. He said to remove the sending unit and work the float up and down and see if the needle moves. Well I know the needle moves--it just goes to 1/2 full and seems to read accurately at all levels less than 1/2. Any idea how I can troubleshoot to determine if it is the gauge or the sending unit?

Thanks.

short wires coming to sender. if gauge reads full - gauge is ok and you have a bad sender. if it still reads 1/2 - sticky gauge and still small possibility that sender is no good too.
