Cleaning out my bilge yesterday...I found these parts just laying in the middle. Any ideas on what they may have belonged to? Maybe a former repair? A little concerend about where they came from...any thoughts?? 1999 SeaRay 230BR Select with 7.4MPI...Both are made of metal. The black one is very hard steal and the one that looks like a heel to a shoe is silver in color and not as thick of a metal as the black one. Was hoping it was part of the bracket to my Trim motor that rusted completely out, but found a picture of that on mercruisers website and it doesnt appear to be a part of that assembly. OH and one more thing, the black piece has rust on either end where the holes are appearing to me to have been bolted to something. Just a note to tell everyone we found out one of the parts. The silver one with the holes in it is the manifold flapper backing plate. That is what my mechanic found. For what ever reason it broke off inside the manifold. The other part is still a mystery!!

How did it get from inside the mainfold to outside the manifold?

I would guess that at one point it was changed out - and the old one fell - just never got picked back up?
