Just came across this. Looks nasty.

How in the world is this boat salvageable?!

The description tells a bit about a fire on a neighboring boat that has spread to this DB, but it makes it seem like the engine room was not damaged. By the looks of it, this is extremely hard to believe........

Thoughts?

You asked for thoughts but I don't know where to begin. I wonder if the boat was uninsured? I can't believe the remains have much value. You couldn't give it to me. (but thats just me). Even if the engine room was "not damaged", the associated cost or moving it, disposing of it, so on & so on.

Let me think about for a second........Aaaaaaa, No thanks.

I know. To be honest, I can't believe the remains have ANY value. I am surprised that this is posted for sale at all, and who would be interested in purchasing such a mess?!

Ummm I have restored some pretty bad ones and a slightly burnt one once. but yea, this,,,,,,Gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

Your looking at about 15K just to rebuild every thing above the rub-rail and labor another 150K. I guess the engines and drive lines are worth 40K each is what they are thinking. So sad.

I read an article back in the summer about re-powering to diesel. It seems to me that a re-power of a similar engines only would run about $ 150k. Throw in transmissions, genset and any other salvagable hardware, and $ 80k might not be so bad.

Around here when a boat catches fire, the fire department pumps in enough water to sink it as fast as they can (maybe that's why the fire didn't "touch" the engine room?) to minimize fire to the docks and other boats. I can't imagine that this one did not suffer that fate as well which calls into question the actual condition of the engines, generator and transmissions.

The only value in this boat is the equipment in the bilge IF the fire occured on land AND the drivetrain wasn't soaked. $15k in parts above the rubrail?? I would bet closer to $500k based on parts prices from Sea Ray. :smt021 There was probably $50k worth of electronics on that boat alone. Hope he had insurance....

Bury it. You can officially declare a boat "dead" when Spookeay Marine says "pass".

OH, geezzz no, I was just talking structural about the glass & resin.

Plus, you could take it to the Bahamas.

Hey Chuck, you should look at this.

That would be one big @ss sun pad, all of you know who’s girls would fit on it.

Huh, seems to me a few days with a sawzall and you could have a perfectly fine 45'+ bow rider...

It's kind of like the guy who takes the rotisserie chicken to the vet ans asks "Do you think you can help me save this little chicken?"

OK HS ... put your offer in, then click that link in the ad for survey and get the surveyor going. Ask him when he gets there if he thinks financing this vessel would be difficult. When you're done you would be able to post a killer thread here letting us cheer you on as you fix the little damage ... would be the longest thread running. just think of the opportunity!! I promise we all will have tons of good advice for you. promise!!:smt043:lol:

I guess the Navigator is the boat that started the fire, and its strange that several pictures you see of boats on fire that theres almost always a Navigator somewhere pictured.
