2022 SDX 270
Engines
6.2 350HP B3
Went to take delivery of my new 2022 SDX 270 today. 1st off throttle threw codes and stopped operating. The dealer recalibrated the shifter and it allowed us to get back to the ramp. Power steering wasn't working. New rack being overnighted, hopefully it's the issue. Few minor cosmetic issues. Gas struts for both engine hatches need to be replaced because the won't hold up the hatches. Sea Ray is involved and very concerned because according to them they haven't seen issues with the fly by wire throttles.
This is my 4th new Sea Ray in 18 years so far the worst delivery. Dealer is doing everything they can to make me happy. But I'm very disappointed at this point.
I'm sure it will all work out. But not happy as I'm sure the dealer is not either.

Sorry to hear about you troubles. Obviously the dealer doesn’t do Pre-delivery inspections and sea trials. Most likely a result of being too busy this time of year? Hope all gets straightened out.

Sorry to hear about your issue, and sounds like you are keeping your cool - good for you. You would think the dealer would have discovered these issues during prep.

Ugh...sorry to hear. But...glad the bumps are getting smoothed out now and will lead to a carefree summer.

Sounds like the Covid-built boat nightmare we hear rumors of. A little disappointing the dealer did not catch all of these issues.
I have a 2018 sdx 270. The engine hatch struts are a problem on all of them. Had mine replaced twice with factory equivalents to no avail. They finally bypassed SR and purchased the next heavier size than SR supplies and all was good.

That stinks. Sounds like you've been hosed a bit by both the dealer and Sea Ray. For that kind of money the dealer should have seen all of those issues long before you got to the ramp.

I hope you can negotiate some free t-shirts and coozies for your trouble, minimum :)

One of my dockmates took delivery of a brand new 2021 Cruisers Cantius 50 last spring. I am AMAZED by how much crap has had to be fixed on his brand new boat. Fridge had to be replaced, rear helm station wasn't even hooked up, windlass didn't work to name a few. That is nuts the struts won't hold the hatches. I mean did they both fail suddenly AFTER installation?? I'd be pissed too.

I took delivery of a 2021 SDX 250 last July (ordered Feb 1).

Horn needed replacing, Bimini canvas was ripped, rub rail screws needed to be re-set, port exhaust trim needed to be replaced, cuddy door was scratched, and Sea Deck was not installed correctly. Dealer caught all of these and repaired them (Sea Deck still needs a warm day to be replaced - won’t happen up here in Buffalo NY until June). My dealer - Smith Boys of Tonawanda - has been great throughout the entire process. Given what we’ve seen during COVID regarding problems recruiting quality help and the supply chain I’m not surprised. It’s certainly annoying considering what you pay for these things but unfortunately not unexpected. We could have waited to buy new and chose not to - my view is that I just need to work the problem like everything else during these strange times. FWIW I’m glad I made the plunge as interest rates are likely to increase. And, finally, at the of the day, this is really a first world type problem that those of us who are in the mix just need to deal with as best we can and move on.

Well I'm in. Power steering rack was replaced, shifter needed to be recalibrated and now all is good. My dealership did the right thing and jumped all over everything that needed being addressed. Now the learning curve begins. What map chip come pre installed? The c map chip is in with my books.

Looks good.
Wanted to give you a heads up. It appears you do not have shore power, just the plug in battery charger. That set up does not have a galvanic isolator. It is not really designed for in-water use exactly. So if you plan to leave it plugged in while in the water, keep a close watch on your anodes for excessive expenditure from rogue current. I added the isolator to mine. Promariner actually recommends taking a wire from the charger chassis to the battery ground if excess wear is noted on the anodes.
Sea Ray missed the mark on this detail.

Spoke to see ray tech support and they told me to leave it plugged in when not in use even if in the water.

This is the 1st boat I've had that didn't have shore power and only has a charger.

Glad it worked out for you, our 2019 SDX had debris in The tank I had a co clean the tank and polish the fuel, new pick up and back in business Sea Ray covered my bills plus got all new Fusion speakers/sub and gas strut for 1 Hatch I’ll say if I bought this boat new I’d be pissed. The quality from the early to middle 2000’s is gone in Sea Ray boats I was looking at other brands but no boat out there has the Head compartment I have on this boat even 270’s and above it’s a great model for us.

Just did a major remodel. In talking with the appliance distributor (Ferguson), he said he is amazed on the call backs for fixing appliances. He says he's had more in the last year than he has had in the last 10. Says mfgs are sending crap out the door and dealing with it post sale. They would rather send crap out the door and deal with it later than catch in in quality control.

I have a 2016 SDX 270. The engine hatch struts are a problem on all of them. Had mine replaced twice with factory equivalents to no avail. They finally bypassed SR and purchased the next heavier size than SR supplies and all was good.

The engine struts on our 2016 270 SDX had the same issue. Replaced by dealer and still would not support the engine cover, Solution, support the cover with one of the mooring cover poles.

Keep an eye on your anodes and drive. Might be fine, but really not a great design for full time in water use.
