I'm thinking about buying a 230 Fission. Does anyone have one or had one? Beautiful looking boat, however worried about the mpg / gph and the ever increasing fuel prices in the UK, currently £1.34 per litre.

The engine is a 5.7 litre V8, 300 hp on the 230 Fission. Has anyone worked out the mpg / gph at cruising / various speeds?

Cheers

I have a 2007 230 select with the 350 Mag Bravo 3 combo. My boat has the wakeboard tower and the best you can hope for is about 3 mpg. I love my boat but sure feel your pain as we currently see gas prices at $3.70 per gallon!!

Thanks. Forgot to mention it's a 2008 model. We're looking a £6 a gallon in the UK at the moment!

GCUNNING is correct..
6-8 GPH is about what I get cruising at 2900 RPM/ 1/2 trim and two adults and 2 kids along with 50% fuel and 15 gal of water..
Its an awesome boat. The engine is a perfect match with the hull.. You cant go wrong.... This summer we havent put near the hrs we normally do because of gas prices.. Still using the boat but just to swim hole and back... Very little wakeboarding and tubing...

Compared to the price of a new 230 fission the cost of fuel doesn't seem too bad. Boats are and always will be expensive to operate and maintain. Mine gets about 4mpg at best with the v6 so 3mpg sounds pretty reasonable for a larger heavier boat with a v8.

Boat that weight and size I would not have anything less than the 350Mag with the BravoIII. I had the 5.0 Mercruiser in a 215EC(weighing about 3900lbs), always wished it had the 350Mag. To still be able to go boating with high fuel prices I am will to sacrifice. Kids really don't need to eat evey day, you know.
