Ubiquity Bullet M2 vs PepLink Max BR1 Mini. Wan WiFi

I had several T-mobile SIM cards but thru 3rd party resellers and they would quit or require a new SIM way too often. I think they were buying corporate accounts and reselling until they got busted for violating terms of service.

I have T-Mo 100gb/$50/month added on to my cell bill. Have had zero issues since I switched to them directly. But I did with the other 3rd parties as you did.

I also have the T-Mobile hundred gig for $50 plan directly through T-Mobile. It’s the prepaid version since that pre-dates me using T-Mobile for my cell phones. I’ve had the sim for a bit over two years and this is the first time I’ve had an issue.

When I added this to my existing cell plan I was told I needed an updated sim, they sent me a new one and it has been working every since, April.

I dunno. But I was in the literal middle of the Long Island Sound when it stopped worked. I had been using a connected Wyze cam to monitor a swimming team in the water when the router stopped working.
Maybe run out of data? End of the month streaming video? Once they hit the cap, they are worthless , and might explain the symptoms.

Sure, I kinda get that.

My plans are still separate though, with baot pre-paid and phones post-paid. I tried to combine, but they were forcing me to take a 5G device, and they didn't get that I wanted to keep my own equipment. Rather than argue I just kept it separate.

I've only used 14% so far, so it doesn't look like that should shut it down.

I went through that as well, but finally got them to fix it. Much better with the boat and cell's together.

Someone can tell me how to fix this on my phone app?

found this but I don't think I have InControl

Grant - not sure what the exact issue is that your having? Is it just the certificate? The certificate issue seems to be an iPhone issue of sorts. I would post the question on the PL forum. Certificates can get quite tricky. But in the web management page under Advanced - Misc. there is a certificate manager screen.

InControl just allows you to manage the router when not on it's local network. I use it for remote management. It will allow you access the local web page as if you were on the local network. To use InControl you need to turn it on in the local web page and subscribe to it, I think it's like ~$30/yr.

The folks I purchased my Peplink products from include 12mo tech support. Not sure if you tried calling the dealer?

Yes I can get to the page via using the browser to get in but what do I do?

Too much info above my pay grade and in the end it is just the app that is not working. I can still get to the portal via a browser on phone or laptop so no worries. I am running 8.3 and it says that is the latest for my hardware as it looks like 8.4 is not for mine.

Ok, so according to the link above, if you enable the auto update it will update the certificate(s). The issue is you need to have InControl active. So you need to sub to InControl and set it active in the PL itself, under system you can enable InControl.

That is the easiest way to update the certificates, or at least according to that link. The only other way is through the certificate manager (previous link) and to do that you need to create a self signed SSL certificate. That is complicated to say the least and way too much for this post.

Personally I think there is a setting on your iPhone that may fix this or just setup InControl and give that a try. Sorry but I am an Android guy, so I can't speak to the iPhone.

One of the nice features of FW 8.4.0 seems to be the ability to directly connect the Dishy without using the Starlink router. Seems like this would be a worthwhile upgrade for a lot of you SL users, but maybe hardware limited.

Dave, you never needed the SL router to connect to the PL. If you bypassed the SL router (either via hardware or SW option) and used the network adapter then you just need to plug the adapter into the WAN port of the PL.

But to your point, the new features allowing the SL to be controlled by the PL look to be very interesting. Not sure they are needed, but a status of the SL is. Still haven't updated the FW. I'm under a roof for the winter and haven't permanently mounted the SL just yet.

I got an email from MMH this morning about "FusionSIM". Also see what may be the same or similar tech on another thread. Seems to offer carrier-independent connectivity and no physical SIMs. Here's an informative video:

I don't see the benefit of this at all. It needs the more expensive multi-modem units and it also must access the iNet to be able to use the FusionSim data plan. The BR1 5G Pro isn't supported for this. Also if you have iNet to be able to access the FusionSIM data, then isn't that enough by itself?

I mean the technology is pretty cool by itself, I just don't see the benefit of it in our application.
