What is the typical hourly rate that everyone pays to service their boats? When I bought this boat 2 years ago a friend of mine had agreed to take care of the mechanical things for me. We have had a falling out last year and I can't seem to get a reasonable mechanic to charge me a good rate or have the time. I have had two different men come out and one of them wanted $150 per hour and both of them would not even return my call after seeing the boat. Are mechanics that busy that they can get that much and not return phone calls? The local Sea Ray dealer said they would not work on the boat because I did not buy it from them.

Thank you.

Unfortunately prices are all over the board as you are about to find out when everyone starts giving you replies. :wow:

What you need to find out is what's typical in your area.

The prices in our area are generally under $100 an hour but that may not be the case in your area.

$150 an hour is a pretty good deal. You should jump on that guy before someone else takes him. With spring coming, he's going to be in great demand.

Best regards,
Frank

$100 / hour.

Boats that were purchased thru them and Marina members come first.

If they have time remaining then they will take outside work. This just has not happened for a long time.

There is a big supply of used boats for sale. Way too many.
There is a big shortage of good boat mechanics. Way too few.

Your low budget alternative it so buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, put a ribbon on it and stop by your friends house with a smile on your face.

$90/hour in West Michigan

Source Code, Where did you buy your boat? What's wrong with it that needs fixing?

My local MM charges too much. :smt021

My mechanic of choice charges $85 per hour and he works fast.

Find a mechanic that doesn't own a deisel boat and likes to step on little guys:thumbsup: I have been calling around myself, around here I'm being told 60-100 PH. I think I'll quit my job and go back to turning wrenches. SB

I found a mechanic that's coming to my house (dock) Friday with a helper for $80.00/hr.

I know a guy who works all day, and does a great job IMHO, for a nice steak, some shrimp and Dr. Pepper. Unfortunately he lives in California. :)

Seriously best of luck finding someone.
