I have a 280DA and am looking for a Type IV throwable to keep on the boat. I currently have the throwable cushion. It does meet the USCG requirements but there looks to be better things out there. So I'm looking for something that other 280 size boats keep stowed away.

I think a throwable ring would be too big to store anywhere within quick reach, even the smaller rings. The Life Sling 2 seems like the best type out there, with a rope attached to pull it back in. It looks like it might fit within the stern locker, or possibly even the aft starboard locker on my boat (best location).

What do you all have on your boat?

Life sling 2 - left in the cockpit with the end already secured
Throw ring - from bridge ( I need to attached a line to this)
Throwable cushions - from bridge

I keep a large ring right in the cockpit, mounted to the wall at the aft end of the salon. No rope attached to it because I want to be able to toss it as far as possible. I want to get it to the MOB then I can bring the boat back to him/her.

You should keep a light weight line attached to ring because when throwing may miss your target and then you can draw it back in and try again. Without a line and you miss then the person may drown before they get to it.
