Got my boat out today for the first time everything was good for the first hour or so and opened it up then we were cruising back now in the river and now I'm getting two beats every minute every gauge is perfect temp is perfect oil pressure's perfect both the spine everything is good no loss of power anything boat runs great any ideas

I have smartcraft cannon plug but I don't have any smartcraft gauges in the boat but every gauge was where it should be tempoil pressure volts everything was fine but ran fine no loss of power what's what. When I bought the boat the wire to the alarm was disconnected from the post it's a purple wire so I put it back on the post where it was and then put another nut on it so this is the first time that it's been fully attached and tightened so I'm going to just got home I'm going to flush it and let it run for a little bit see what happens

Took the boat out of Bass River today went out in the ocean for a 15-20 minute ride 33 3500 RPMs no problem then cruised all the way back down Bass River to the speed zone. I have never checked the max RPM on this engine before, so I was in a no limit zone and wanted to see what RPM she would give me which was 45 4600. So that's right on the money, heading back up Bass River we got past the Bass River bridge and I got a beep beep so I looked at all my gauges every gauge was normal fold the engine hatch and looked at the drive oil everything was fine headed back out to the ocean for a 10-15 minute ride at 3500 RPMs cruise speed 28-29 miles an hour everything was fine.. it however was still beeping twice every minute so brought her to the dock brought it home and began to flush it.
Well boat was running for 10 or 15 minutes to get to operating temp before I let the salt away enter the engine I never had a single beep The boat was probably running a half an hour with fresh water and salt away and I never had a single beep. This was also the first time that I ever ran the boat at the 4500 RPMs and 40 mph since I've owned it I've always babied it. Could running it in its RPM range or Max RPM range for 5 to 10 seconds have messed something up? Thank you guys, online I can come up with a soft alarm that says should be checked but I didn't hear it when I flushed it so now I'm wondering if I should just take it out again next time and see what happens or try to diagnose problem now I do not have a scanner but thanks again

Also no loss in power that I know of . I never get on the throttle that hard, but then no alarm at home flushing for 30 minutes

This may sound stupid, but when I first got mine, I heard a beep. Same scenario, couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. Engine ran fine, oil was fine, temp was fine, no hiccups……turned out to the the carbon monoxide sensor in the cabin. Not saying that’s what’s happening with you, but with the engine running I originally couldn’t place where the sound was coming from.

Thanks Ollie but it's not. Since it doesn't do it now when being flushed on hose for almost half hour I will see how next trip goes

My outboard beeps every minute or so when it thinks it needs an oil change...

Lastly, however I had drivability issues, was the $70 crankshaft sensor. Ruined my whole Summer. I ended buying new ECM because 2 mechanics couldn’t figure it out. It didn’t spit out any codes either. However it kept beeping and stalling out. Anyway, let us know what you find.

That could be beeping for any number of various sensors - they will all produce the 2 beeps per minute. In order to see what sensor is complaining it needs to be connected to a Merc computer to be read.

As I said I'm going to take it out one more time and see what happens because it was not beeping for a half hour during flushing yesterday so I have no idea and if you read the whole post the actual sensor under the dash the purple wire was disconnected when I purchased the boat so there was no sensor at all but I only hooked that up this year ,last year I just hung it on the little post and then this year I put it on the post and put a nut on it

Filled it before I went out and it was the first thing I checked. Its fine. Thanks

It’s one of your sensors according to the horn code. It sounds like you have a bad sensor, without the ECU values you will need to test each one.

Is there a way to go about that without having a rinda scan tool. If there is could you please let me know. Also it was at idle or about $1,200 RPMs in an awake zone when it started then it went out into the ocean and it got up on playing everything was fine pulled it out of the water 15 minute ride home ran it for 20 minutes with salt away and all that and never had a single beep out of it so I don't know what the deal is, thank you for your help

The boat is a '06 215 weekender 5.0 MPI alpha 1 Gen 2

Here are your horn codes. Testing sensors is a sensor by sensor case. I’d have to do research to figure out how to test but it would require volt/ohm meter to look for valid output. You could also rent a scanner: https://handymanstoolcrib.com/terms

I did read the whole post.

Whether the horn is connected or not does not change the answer that to find out why it's complaining you really need to hook up to a computer.

The only thing that it tells us is that there may be an ongoing problem that someone was trying to hide. Or it became disconnected accidentally.

Thanks for the file, Lazy I will take it out again this weekend and see if anything is off. Then I will take it in if problem is still there, thanks
