Finally got around to installing an LED flat screen where the old tune/VCR combo was. I selected a thin 22" LED tv to cover the whole. Ordered it refurbished from tigerdirect.com for $129. Bought two shelving brackets from Lowes. Only needed to drill two holes in the brackets to fit the standard TV mounting points on the back. Screwed the brackets into the old TV turntable so it still pulls out, locks, and swivels. Total install price was around $150 and time was about 30 min. The TV I selected is ac only as we do not watch it away from our slip. Looking at it I wish I had gone with a 24". I plan on painting the brackets black once we're out for the season.

Shelf brackets, great idea. I've been contemplating the same mod for my '99 310 but hadn't considered using shelf brackets, lot easier than fabbing up a bracket. What type shelf bracket from Lowe's did you use? The standard grey/white shelf bracket or one of the heavier duty options? Is it fairly sturdy when you have it pulled out? Thanks for the idea!

Pretty slick, man, looks good.

Very interesting solution, I might steal that idea. I'm very tempted to remove the angled braces (the TV isn't all that heavy) and add some shelving in there.

I agree with going without the braces. I was worried about flex but it pushes up against the padding when locked in place and tv doesn't weigh much. We keep a playstation2 behind the tv but it would be nice to have more room for that and the Apple TV.
