i have directv coming in via satellite and like listening to the music channels. anybody rerouted the main salon tv speakers so they will play through the stereo speakers throughout the boat? if so, what are the steps?

When I install a new stereo two seasons ago, I put in a West Marine Dual CP662.
It has a USB and a 3.5 mm aux jack on the front of it.
I ran a jack from the back of the tv to the stereo and can play it throughout all of the speakers on the boat by placing the stereo in the aux mode.
Simple and cheap.

Run rca cable from the "audio out" on the t.v. to the aux input on your stereo. Switch stereo to aux input and there you go:thumbsup:

Our 2008 38DA came wired where the salon TV will play thru the stereo. In the overhead cabnet there is a a switch for TV or IPOD. If the switch it to TV then the TV will play thru the stereo when the stereo is ste to aux.

BTW I am at Home Port in Palm Harbor (north Clearwater)

I should mention that SeaRay routed the RCA type cables from the mid cabin TV (drop down) on port side to the switch and stereo on the stbd side.

I also enjoy the music via my DirecTV while at the dock. I found the easiest way to send the music/audio to the stereo was to run an additional RCA cable(s) directly from the receiver (it has 2 extra outputs) to the Aux inputs on the back of the Clarion radio. It works and sound great.

Possible caveat to sending the signal directly from the sat receiver to the stereo:

The programming on my Samsung LED HDTV runs with a slight delay, so if I connected the Sat to the stereo instead of the from the output of the TV, the audio and video would be out of sync when watching on the Samsung and listening through the boat speakers.

On my boat the PO installed a separate sound system, actually a home theater system. It is a Bose Lifestyle with 5.1 surround sound. You can play CD's or DVD's and I am getting an adapter to play an IPOD through the auxilary jacks.
