I have just installed a new 22" Skyworth 12v TV on the closet door. I want to run wiring from the closet to the stereo. Can I go under the headliner or is there a better way? What has to be removed. I have become very proficient at taking the inside of the closet apart thanks to Dave S's past threads and pics.

Thanks.

You could buy a Miccus Bluetooth transmitter for the TV and transmit the TV sound to the Clarion received by a matching Miccus receiver at the Clarion. If your Clarion has built in Bluetooth, even better. No wires to run.

JimFromMD did this hopefully he will see this and give us more details.

That would be cool! I hope his experience is better than some of the reviews I just read on Amazon though.

Bill is right. I have the miccus receiver on the clarion side, and bought their Bluetooth transmitter with the male headphone jack end that goes into the headphone port on the TV. It works very well for me, and better than my FM transmitter did. In my case, the sound is clear and no "video to audio lag" like you would see in an overdubbed movie. I was concerned about that.

The FM transmitter worked ok on shore power with my old 110v TV, but when I ran the TV on an inverter (at anchor) the inverter made a lot of signal interference. Since going to a 12v TV and the BT transmitter it's been pretty rock solid.

I bought Miccus for both the transmitter and receiver just to be sure they would pair up. You may be able to get it to work with other BT transmitter solutions. My miccus receiver has worked with all iDevices and laptops I've connected to it. The transmitter has only been tested with the TV, but since its really just replacing a headphone wire, it should work with anything.

i installed an inexpensive 'A/B selector switch' on my boat to handle this......the 'out' from the A/B switch goes to the AUX input on my stereo head unit....the two inputs for the A/B switch are my Sirius satellite radio and the TV....for the TV connection i used the headphone jack....works great...i can select to hear the satellite radio or the TV through the cockpit speakers...

Neat! Would be much easier than pulling wire. Do you need to pair bluetooth devices with it I would guess, but not the transmitter?

Thanks a lot.

I use the rear aux RCA inputs from the headphone output of the tv. Set the radio on volume 20 and you can control the level of the volume with the tv remote control. I was using the RCA outputs from the tv but you had to control the volume with the stereo. Two remote controls was aggravating so I switched over to the headphone output.

Jim,
Did you buy the Miccus RX receiver and the TX transmitter?

I did buy both because that way I knew for sure they would pair together, plus they weren't terribly expensive (under $75 total). I haven't had any trouble pairing non-miccus devices to the miccus receiver (ie, iPhone, iPad, droid phone). I haven't had a need to pair the miccus transmitter with other Bluetooth receivers.

There is no "lag" between the the Tv and the sound you hear through the stereo? Really? I was under the understanding that this is one of the downfalls of Bluetooth.

Am ordering tonight. I also read that walls/objects are not an issue for the Bluetooth signal so this should work equally as well with the TV in the cockpit. Many thanks. Certainly worth $75 not to have to pull the wires, plus iphones, etc can connect.

One other thing. The Miccus Receiver uses a 3.5mm plug so you'll need a 3.5mm jack on the Clarion side. For my Clarion XMD3 I bought a mp3 adapter and connected it to the XMD3 aux input RCA connectors. Not sure which Clarion you have. You may already have mp3 plug capability on it.

I believe mine is the XMD4. We already have the aux jack as have been plugging in iphone so the miccus receiver should plug right into it. This will be a great addition. Just installed the TV and the sound is not sufficient. Looks like it will also work with the TV in the cockpit as the next project is to put another mount on the arch so we can move the TV from cabin to cockpit. Thanks

One other thing on this. JimFromMD and I both added a 12v socket next to the head unit so we could power the Miccus Rx 24/7 and not just rely on its 8 hr battery charge.

Am planning to do this as well. I also found a 12v single cigarette lighter socket with a USB socket all built into one very compact good looking unit to install on my arch for moving the TV to the cockpit. The Miccus receiver and transmitter should be delivered tomorrow. Can't wait. The only thing left is to pull hot/ground wires to my arch.

Thanks for all of the input.

This looks like a good solution. I assume the part/model numbers are: BBMJ-02 and BBMR-02?

No delay whatsoever. The units do not maintain a charge very well. If you charge it up and let it sit for a day or two, it will be dead again. However, when fully charged, works perfect. I installed USB charging ports at each location so I can just plug it in and no issues whatsoever. Initially, I plugged the receiver into my Clarion unit, closed the cabin door, and walked a 25 foot circle around the boat with my iphone paired and it worked to a "T". TV on arch with cabin door closed and it works perfect.
