Im interested in installing a smaller tv in my 270. I know I wanna put it on the starboard side on the wall in the V berth just in front of galley. I'm planning on using an articulating mount that will collapse so it can be see in the V berth and then unfolded to be seen from the dinette across from the galley or even through the cabin door. I wanna add a signal to the stereo but I can get to that later.

My biggest question is how to supply power? Do I hook it up to 12v or the 110? Both are very easily accessible from that location. Is there a switch that will recognize which power source is available or do I have to do it manually? I know there are many options for a 12v tv with a very low draw, so maybe I just hook it up to the batteries and call it quits? I have a genset if that should is something to be considered.

I'm pretty well versed in 12v but throw in the shore power and genset and im a bit outta my realm. Any advice or input? Thanks guys

We have a 12v Majestic TV. The brand makes products for the boating and RV industry. Very nice set with excellent reception. Installation was pretty straightforward with good instructions.

one of the projects between season close and open 2018 is to install a 24' flatscreen with Blu-Ray and decided to use a 110V TV only because it will probably only be used when plugged into shore power and if necessary on the hook, genny will supply the power

We run our Blu-Ray with and without the genny when on the hook. The need for heat or a/c drives the generator use decision. The beauty of the 12v entertainment systems is the flexibility they afford. The current draw is minimal.

We installed a 24" Skyworth 12v TV with DVD in our 260DA on an articulating mount. We could watch from the V-birth or through the cabin door. Also bought a 2nd base for the mount and placed it on the radar arch and we could watch in the cockpit as well. It had very low draw of around 45 watts I believe. Put in a Glomex antenna coupled that with an Apple TV and we could watch anything on the boat that we could at home. Love the fall and football on the boat!

Yep. Football on the boat is great.

Now you guys have me thinking second thoughts! Found a nice dual voltage unit with built in DVD for $150.00

Sounds like a good price. What make, size and model, and where was it advertised for that price.
I still have to replace two of my TV's and I've been considering dual voltage models.

Found on Jet.com for $143.75
