I have a 2005 270 Amberjack with a clarion CDM3 radio. It doesnt have a port to connect the ipod using a standard earphone connection. What it does have are 3 sets of red and white wires (not being used) that are a smaller diameter than the ipod earphone jack. Any ideas how to play the ipod through the Aux mode.

All you need is a mini stereo to rca adaptor. Male mini stereo on one end & 2 male rca's on the orther. Just about anyone (Radio shack, Walmart ) carries them. Mine is about 10' long so I have a little latitude to move it around in the boat & doesn't have to set right on top of the radio.

aux in is the red pair of wires. Red tip is right and white tip is left.

I prefer using the ipod connector to the bottom as it is line out that way the volume control on the ipod doesn't impact the stereo. Especially when your are trying to drive and change the song. you tend to turn the volume down as well. I got mine of ebay and it charges the ipod when connected.

added: Mine is an ipod video so I got the connector with the video output as well "just in case"

Look inside your cabinets near the the head unit...My Ipod jack was hidden inside a closet...you might be surprised! Look close...it's small

The problem is, when I hook it up to the rca jacks only one set works while on AUX and it only plays in the cabin NOT in the cockpit! Any help would be great. Thanks

you're on the wrong Aux input RCA jacks. try a different one and you will see that it should place in both the cabin and on deck.

also I pick up this little gadget at BoatersWorld for $14 and so I could have a clean/factory look connection.

this little adapter and a 25' run of pre terminated RCA cable and I can plug my Ipod in at the Helm as shown in the pic below.

PS. you could also put a Y connector and put a second plug in the cabin if you wanted.
