trying to connect my Raymarine 60 VHF to and older SL70CRC

has anyone connected a new VHF to and older SL70CRC or similar unit via NMEA0183? I replaced my Ray215 for the new Ray60 in my 2004 34 Sundancer, when is connected the vhf I found that the original connections for NMEA were no even connected. I bought the boat new. I had to cut back the NMEA/power cord from the radar/chartplotter to find the nmea wires. from there is extended these wires to reach the vhf, and wired the two units together. I'm not a expert but I wired the NMEA connectors using the color codes as describe by both the radar ad vhf manuals. but still no position shows on the new vhf. has anyone had a similar issue? thanks all

Give raymarine a call tell them what you are doing and they will tell you what wire goes where. Ask me how I know this !!!
