Horn stopped end of last season. Made it to the boat today to take a look. When the horn button is pressed, it sounds like there is a pump running. That's all I got so far.

Guess I'll have to wait until I have a helping hand. Compressor seems to be running, but not sure if it is pumping air. I'm guessing it's not, as the air lines look good - and if it were a "leak," I'm sure the horns would sound something. Worth just getting another compressor and being done with it? I'm pretty sure the P.O. replaced it before closing last year as the horn didn't work all that Well during survey. Can the be rebuilt?

Ok so I had the same thing. the compressor is behind the panel in the master starboard locker. What I found out was that trumpets were full of spiders and "crap" They are located on the same side in the bow locker and a tight squeeze to remove, but be patient. I removed both of mine, there is a rubber boot and screws that retain them. I opened them up and oiled and cleaned them and they worked great now! Its not a hard job and much cheaper then buying new ones!

I had similar issues on my 420. I also was able to take the horns apart from inside the anchor area and clean the spider webs. It has worked great ever since. You can pull the air tubes off right where they meet the horn and feel if there is air pushing when you hit the button (it takes 2 people). The flow of air is not as great as you think. It must not take much to make them work.

The compressors for these horns are not expensive....like $65. They are labeled to oil them monthy, which none of us do, probably because they are usually hidden in some God forsaken inaccessible corner of the boat so we never notice the "oil monthly" sticker on the compressor body.

My bet is you will find the compressor is weak and needs replacing.

Yeah, it's hidden in there alright! Gonna be a PITA to swap out if it comes to that. Only two screws to access it and another two for mounting but holy crap is it tight to get in there!

So where was it located?

Mine is behind the tv in the master in the bow. I went in through the access panel in the locker if memory serves - I was replacing the ancient tv so it made it alittle easier.

Compressor was fine. Turned out to be some water in the horns. Your guess is as good as mine why. One diaphram cracked, but was able to fix it with scotch tape. Took them both apart, dried and cleaned each and reassembled and they seem to work. Success. Thanks!
